Annual tuition fee for EU/EEA and Swiss students: EUR 2000
Annual tuition fee for non-EU/EEA students: EUR 6900
2

Relevant dates

Students pay the tuition fees in two instalments, paying half of the annual fee at the beginning of each semester, i.e. for EEA and Swiss students, EUR 1000 at the beginning of the winter semester and EUR 1000 at the beginning of the summer semester, and for non-EEA students, EUR 3450 at the beginning of the winter semester and EUR 3450 at the beginning of the summer semester.

In general, the students have to pay the relevant instalment by the end of the first month of the semester, i.e. by the end of October for the winter semester and by the end of March for the summer semester. The only exception to this is the winter semester of the first year where the students need to pay the first instalment before the academic year starts, i.e. before October 1, to confirm their enrolment in the programme.

How to pay them

Students will pay their tuition fees through the system of the lead university of the programme, i.e. Uniwersytet Jagielloński w Krakowie, even when they will be primary based during the second and the third year of the programme at one of the partner universities.

Upon successful enrolment, each student will receive a designated bank account number to which they should make their tuition fee payments. This account number will be different from the bank account number for the registration fee.

BASUS-specific scholarships

Joint Bachelor in Sustainability (BASUS) is one of the recipients of the NAWA KATAMARAN and NAWA WUE 2024 grants to provide financial support for mobility of students enrolled in international programmes. With these grants, we have established two short-term scholarship schemes for BASUS students to help with the mobility costs of moving to their track university.

As part of these schemes, successful applicants will be required to conduct a small research project during the summer break. More information about the application procedure and schedule will follow.

Through the NAWA KATAMARAN grant, we set up a short-term scholarship scheme to be paid out to successful applicants across the first six months of their track mobility (i.e. the third semester of the programme). The scholarship amount is PLN 2250 per month (PLN 13 500 in total). The scholarship applications will be assessed following two criteria sets, depending on the willingess of the candidates to disclose their financial details:

  • For students in a difficulty financial situation, the criteria for awarding the scholarship will be the scientific merit of the research project proposal (50% of the points), the financial situation of the students (attested by relevant documents) (30% of the points), and the grades obtained in the course of study (20% of the points).
  • For students who do not wish to disclose their financial situation, the criteria for the awarding of the scholarship will be the scientific merit of the research project proposal (80% of the points) and the grades obtained in the course of study (20% of the points).

Through the NAWA WUE 2024 grant, we set up a short-term scholarship scheme to be paid out to successful applicants across 90 days during the summer break between the first and second year of the programme. The scholarship amount is PLN 75 per day (PLN 6750 in total). The criteria for awarding the scholarship will be the financial situation of the student (65% of the points) and the grades obtained in the course of study (35% of points).

Other available scholarships

As BASUS students are formally enrolled in all degree-awarding partner universities, they can apply for the scholarships & financial aid on the same grounds as any other students at the university. Below you can find more information about the scholarships offered by Uniwersytet Jagielloński that successful applicants will be able to apply for once they have enrolled to the programme.

Social scholarship

A student in difficult financial circumstances is entitled to receive a social scholarship. The financial situation of the student is determined based on the monthly net income per family member. The social scholarship is not available to a student who holds a master's degree, even if obtained abroad, or holds a bachelor's degree and is starting first-cycle studies again.

The amount of the social scholarship is determined by the Rector in consultation with the University Economic Commission of the Student Government at the turn of October and November for the winter semester of the given academic year, and in February for the summer semester.

Scholarship for students with disabilities

A scholarship for people with disabilities may be awarded to a student on account of a disability confirmed by a decision of a respective authority.

Financial aid

One-off benefit. Financial aid may be provided to any student facing temporary hardship, such as death of a parent.

Rector's scholarship

The rector's scholarship is a form of financial support awarded to students (including foreigners) enrolled in first-cycle studies, second-cycle studies and long-cycle master's studies for outstanding academic performance and scientific, artistic or sporting achievements.

The rector's scholarship is awarded to a student admitted to the first year of first-cycle studies or long-cycle studies in the year of taking the school-leaving exams who is:

  • a winner of an international competition (olimpiada) or a winner or finalist of a central-level competition (olimpiada) referred to in the Polish regulations on the education system;
  • a medallist in a sports competition for the title of the Champion of Poland in a given sport referred to in the regulations on sports.

The rector's scholarship is not available to a student who holds a master's degree, even if he or she obtained it abroad. This scholarship is also not available to a student who holds a bachelor's degree if they are re-entering a first-degree programme. The scholarship amount is determined by the Rector at the turn of October and November for a given academic year.

Support fund for Uniwesytet Jagielloński students and doctoral students

Students who are temporarily in a difficult financial situation related to, for example, an armed conflict or the economic situation, and who are not eligible for an allowance from the Scholarship Fund, e.g. who hold a master's degree, may apply for an allowance from the Support Fund.

As such, the scholarships are not awarded to those with a master's degree and, for first-cycle studies, to those with a bachelor's degree, even if these degrees (or equivalent) were obtained abroad. Scholarships from the Scholarship Fund may not be granted to a student studying for more than 12 semesters, even if he or she has not previously received benefits, with the proviso that within this period benefits are granted for:

  • first degree – no longer than for 9 semesters;
  • second-cycle studies – for no longer than 7 semesters.
